About Me

Ozara Ode fka "Sistah Monica- hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin- is now flowing out of Atlanta. After capturing audiences in her hometown and the surrounding region, this sultry songstress took a leap of faith and headed to the "A".Since her arrival she has received standing ovations at the world renowned "Apache Cafe", The Artistry, Sugar Hill, The Smilin' Dawg, Urban Grind, Java Monkey, The Grind, Churchill Ground, Baraza, Cafe' 290, Twain's- as well as performing with international artist HBO Def Poet Abyss and BETJ's Ken J Martin, and Gritz and Jelly Butter, Dashill of Common Grounds- two of Atlanta's Hottest Bands!This gutsy sistah doesn't take her gifted vocals or faith lightly, and since her ATL arrival has been picked up by YZ of Black World Ent.,and appeared in V103's 10th Annual Passion and Poetry Event with host and radio DJ, Joyce Littel! Ozara Ode' has been featured in The Star, and Oshkosh News, has opened for "Floetry" at "Summerfest", one of the largest music festivals in the U.S., as well as opening for "Kindred Family Soul" at the Black Ski Summit in Lake Geneva, WI., has featured at various colleges and universities, and performed at the "African World Festival". Another shining moment occurred when Ozara performed at the Grand Opening of "Panache," a jazz and supper club, where she shared her rendition of "Strange Fruit" amongst other selections -at the reception for jazz great Gerald Albright. Albright, upon the completion of Ozara's performance- approached her and stated, "Your voice is absolutely amazing!" Ozara hosted an open mic set, "Flow Wit It" at various venues- showcasing local and national independent artists, comedians, singers, and poets. She will also be showcased in one of the "Summers hottest shows at the Int'l Soul Summit in ATL. Ozara has also written a book of poetry entitled "Flow wit it". For booking call 414-721-6758.

Influences: My first influence was my mother. She use to sing lead in a funk band back in the day. She sang like a bird, and when they would rehearse, I wuld join in-I actually thought I was apart of the band.LOL My father is also an amazing singer; I'm almost certain that's how he got my mom's.My Aunt Renee, Aunt Sandra, and Aunt Lavenia would sing around my grandmother's house! There was always so much singing going on, on holidays, on sundays, on whatever day. My grandmother (Mattie Brooks) was "When You Hear My Horn Blowing-Don't Worry Bout Me". My Aunt Linda, Uncle Romel, Uncle Thomas, and Uncle Gerome are also singers, and at one point had a gospel singing group called "The Brooks 9".I was very blessed to come from such a musical family, cousins, nieces, nephews- all extremely talented, and each one of them have influenced me tremendously! I am truly blessed!..
