'Watch out for trucks and buses!' ~Dave Ballington

About Me

Hey! My name is Crystal. I'm 24 years old. I was born and raised in Red Bank, which over the years I have grown to love.

I have a wonderful boyfriend named Dave. We have been dating for over a year now. It took me a long time to be mature enough to be in this relationship, and most of this past year was spent figuring out who I am and what I need to do to better myself (for him and for myself). I have sabotaged myself at times because I thought I was unworthy of the love and adoration that Dave actually has for me. We are best friends and ultimately being with Dave is one of the only things I've done right in my life. I'm happy knowing that even though it took us a while to get our stuff straight, we made it. We are FINALLY in the loving, supportive, encouraging relationship we've always wanted...with the person we used to only dream about. Most people spend their whole lives never knowing what true love is, never experiencing the passion that comes from meeting your soul mate. Dave says I'm his better half and I feel as though he is mine. No one may ever see what goes on when we're alone, but we have the sweetest, most tender and fun-filled moments I have ever seen two people have in my entire life. Love is not easy. Love isn't really something humans are capable of at times. God is love. Love is not being in an easy relationship, it's not pursuing someone who just makes you happy in the moment. Love is the tears, sweat, anger, passion, joy, happiness, sorrow, wisdom, blessings, sadness and so much more that comes along with truly caring for and nurturing another person's SOUL...you love ALL of them, not just the convenient parts. And, if God finds that love worthy and something that honors Him, then He'll bless it and see you through the bad times. I thank God everyday for blessing us and seeing us through the growing up we BOTH had to do. Amen. :)
I am the middle of three girls and I have a 6 year old niece. My parents are wonderful and have always kept me straight when I needed it. I have a really hard time trusting people, which is why I only have a few close friends. They have proven themselves trustworthy and I love them dearly like family.
I have spent most of my life caring about what people think about me, but that has started to change. I'm growing, learning, changing and beginning to truly love myself. There are a lot of things in my past that I wish I could change, but I try not to dwell on it. If you can't forgive me for things in my past, then that's your problem. God forgives me, Dave forgies me and I'm learning to forgive myself. Everyone makes mistakes, and I'm learning from mine.
My passions in life are Jesus Christ (first and foremost), MUSIC, art, philosophy, history, politics, missions, photography, love and traveling. I have no clue exactly what I will settle in to as an adult, but right now I am content with where I'm at in life. God keeps blessing me, though I feel most of the time like I don't deserve His love or grace. My goal lately has been to become better and better with each passing day.
This is the sloth skit from SNL. You have NO idea how funny this is to me and Dave. I was his 'sloth face' long before we saw this skit. We don't even remember how it started. Lol. This video is hilarious...

Heroes:

1. My Grandmother, who died when I was in high school. She did so much for people, and led the deaf ministry and the library at our church. She was the one who influenced my decision to accept Christ, even though it happened after God took her Home. She helped make me who I am today.
2. My friend Thomas, who I grew up with in the church. He was a soldier who was killed in Iraq in June of 2004. He always made everyone laugh and enjoy life. --
3. Of course, my best friend Craig, who I also grew up with in the church. He was killed in a car accident back in January of 2005. He was a middle school teacher who touched so many lives during his short time on this earth. I loved him my whole life and miss him everyday.
4. My older sister, Heather, because she is the most amazing mother I've ever seen. She has been through so much and she still manages to be playful and fun and sweet. She has raised my amazing niece, Taylor, almost entirely on her own, through great difficulties. I think she's fantastic.
