Hello Everyone,I recently made a commitment to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) – a life threatening genetic disease. I made this commitment because of my close friend Jen O’Mahoney. She has battled CF for the past 36 years and she was supposed to only live to be 12 years old. More than 10 million Americans are carriers of the defective CF gene. Currently there are 30,000 Americans living with this disease and 70,000 people worldwide. There has been a lot of research already conducted to create and remake daily treatments to make living with CF a little bit easier. The path to finding a cure is paved with numerous research opportunities. In the 1950’s only a few children with CF lived to attend elementary school. Today, due to all of the research and resources available the average life for a CF patient has been extended to the mid 30’s and even into their 40’s.I will be walking on April 26, 2008 to participate in GREAT STRIDES as a proud part of Jennie’s Hope team in honor of Jen O’Mahoney.
