From my early teenage years, I've always had an interest in DJing. I got my first set of turntables in 1998. Within a year’s time I received a call from what would be my training grounds to hone my craft. A local night club in central Jersey called "Packees" is where you found DJ YNot? every Thursday night. Soon after, I received calls from other venues in New Jersey which would become being an official resident DJ in such night clubs like Deko Lounge, Club Platinum, as well as the world renown Club Abyss. I found myself sharing stages with DJs Kid Capri, Mr Cee, Funk Master Flex, Tony Touch, Jazzy Joyce, just to name a few. As well as shows and events with Russel Simmons, Fatman Scoop, Lil Kim, The Lox, Talib Kweli and Fat Joe. In 2004, I appeared as the DJ in BET’s “Rapcity the Basement” and again in 2005. The Hip Hop video show receives 15 million viewers nation wide. I also became a staff DJ for retail urban clothing company “Against All Odds”.On the up-swing of my career as a secular DJ, God had different plans for me. I remember the exact night where I was playing for about two thousand people, when I got convicted. That night in the club, God showed me that he didn’t want me in that environment. Ya’ see, being a fulltime DJ, stops being just a job, it becomes a lifestyle. It comes with influence, and you’ll be surprised at what you could make a person do by just saying a few words on the microphone along with playing a catchy song - He showed me that I was leading people towards the wrong way. In the beginning of 2006, I gave it all up when I found out the saving truth in Jesus Christ. At the time this posed a problem for me because DJing is how I supported my family. I didn’t know how I was going to put food on the table. I went from making $1000 - $1500 cash a week in to nothing. Looking back now, I know that it was my God who got me through that time in my life. I placed my turntables on the Alter and gave it to God. After all, it was Him who gave me this gift and all this time, I was using it in the wrong. As time went on, and became more mature in my faith, I noticed that God started giving back to me what I had left at his feet. It says that whatever the devil intended for evil, God will make for good. My goal is to take everything that God has given me and use it to big Him up. My hopes are to win souls for the Kingdom with DJing and Producing as my method and to show people that; just because you are a Christian you can’t have fun or a good time in the Lord.
