"Every woman has a well-stocked arsenal of anger potentially useful against those oppressions, personal and institutional, which brought that anger into being. Focused with precision it can become a powerful source of energy serving progress and change." --Audre Lorde
Raging Asian Women will set your heart pounding. RAW is a diverse collective of East and South-East Asian women carrying on the North American taiko drumming tradition and promoting social justice while making music. We are activists, cultural workers, dancers, writers, teachers, rock climbers, artists, mothers, community workers, and academics. We integrate rhythm and movement to show a powerful expression of our unique experiences as Asian-Canadian women. We believe in the power of collective creation and collaboration, and are continually working to develop innovative artistic ideas.
RAW was formed in 1998 as an all-women group by three former members of the defunct Wasabi Daiko.
