Testing testing, one-two-three.
Let's just throw it out in the open: I'm a writer, I'm an intellectual, and sometimes I like to think I'm immune to certain fads and trends that might otherwise be looked down upon. I will honestly say that my overall impression of Myspace is bad-- but I'm a blogger to some extent, and I can never pass up the opportunity to make witty remarks where I can. This is an experiment for me, so watch it fold out.
My name is Ben Ball, don't expect much else in the way of personal information, I watch the news (apparently too much, according to my History peers). However, I'm an avid gamer, writer, reader, and I enjoy quite a variety of music. I support the “anti txt-talk†movement—I like my language, and as a result, I would like to keep it from falling down the slippery slope to nonexistence. Aside from the written word, another passion of mine is music-- and while I'm not very particular to any one genre, I am most definitely rooted in 60s-80s progressive rock, classic rock, metal (classic, prog., Euro), and alternative (indie, ambient, electronic, foreign, ramblotic).
I am blunt, honest, and often times sarcastic-- but I have a sense of humor, and I am a genuinely kind to most. Do not insult me unless you are going to do it on an intellectual front. Moreover, for god's sake, do not think "OMG rolf lawl can u ad me?" will earn any such action on my behalf. I'm not saying that such casual requests won't have a basis with me, I'm just saying it's not a very appropriate way to engage me. :)
In all things I love to complicate-- to breed absurdism, satire, and romanticism into one bastard creation. In even the most simple aspects of life, I find an element of the quixotic or cynical, and embrace that to the point of tiresome overkill. I believe in human experience; I discount the existence of universal truth; I believe in a world where science is the bulb, the lens, the fuse, the wiring our flashlight, and faith / human experience is the 52 watts. I value, perhaps too much, friendship, love, virtue, experience, and mutual understanding in all things.
I am a Christian— Methodist to be more exact. I avidly support my beliefs, and if I had too, I would gladly write a few essays on the topic. I’m a very science oriented person, but I’ve grown to work my religious beliefs into the way I approach to life—and you’ll just have to respect that. This does not mean that I am a particularly conservative or closed-minded person: on the contrary, the only conservative thing about me is my views on political policy. I take a more democratic-minded stance with religion, as well as with social tolerance and regulation. If, for some unknown reason, you feel the need to attack, adject to, or refute any of my beliefs, I will gladly debate the principal of it-- but insult without merit will earn only contempt from me.
