I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

My wife Suzanne and I are proud parents of a very active toddler (take a bow, Jackson!) I was raised in Memphis TN, and still have many friends and family there, but have called St Louis home since 2001. I enjoy music of all kinds, particularly energetic rock 'n roll played with loud distorted guitars. I once wrote and later recorded a song about coffee. I believe that truly great music also elicits an uncontrollable visceral reaction. I have always been interested in how (and why) things work, such as the relationship between structure and strength in both natural and man-made materials. Since starting my current job in May 2006, I once again truly enjoy what I do for a living. With rare exception, I'm easily bored by mainstream television, movies, and music. I believe in treating others according to the 'golden rule' (provided that said others aren't assholes), such as holding the door open for whoever's behind me, and I'm more likely to wave than to use my horn or finger in traffic. (But if you rear-end my car, all bets are off.) As I've gotten older, I appreciate how much I enjoy breathing.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I want to stay in touch with old friends and hopefully make a few new friends. While some of the questions below definitely have 'correct' answers, there will NOT be a test. (I'm through grading exams!) That said, I'd hope you have an opinion or an answer to at least some of the following questions:Politically speaking, do you most identify with Joey, Johnny, or Dee Dee Ramone? Decaf or Expresso Roast? Macintosh or Windows (or neither)? The Clash or the Sex Pistols (or both)? What do you think of the new Voivod album? Should the Bush administration have prioritized the capture of Osama bin Laden (the terrorist behind the 9/11 attacks), or the toppling of Saddam Hussein's regime (a two-bit schmuck who had nothing to do with 9/11)? The New York Mets: amazin', pond scum, or don't care? Who was your favorite singer for Black Flag, and why? Are you interested in starting a band to write/perform songs in that rich spectrum of American music that includes power trash/indie rock (The Buck Pets, the Replacements) and snotty garage/punk (Oblivians, Rip Offs, Mudhoney, the first Lemonheads album, very early Jawbreaker)? Or, do you need a 30-something guitar player for your trash/indie/garage/punk rock band? (The occasional Social Distortion or Supercharger cover would be a plus.)
