Hailing from Greensboro, North Carolina, Jerry Blackwell is a breath of fresh air in a rap game heavily polluted with the smog of lyrically challenged emcees. His music is both inspirational and positive, addressing a plethora of social issues ranging from racism to substance abuse. He began rapping at an early age after hearing the poetic ingenuity of Jay-Z, Nas, Common, and other Hip Hop greats. His influences include Slick Rick, Joe Budden, Phonte Coleman, and also local Greensboro artists like Jairus and the group Second Coming. The twenty year old protege is currently earning a bachelors degree in English from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina.
