oh me? I'm just your typical m@ the c@. I make lots of music, practice, watch anime, and play video games... I have problems processing reality correctly and I panic a lot, but it's getting much better!
I am known to wear a lot of colors and I take a great deal of inspiration from 50s and 60s mod, so called "hippie" fashion, lumberjacks, punk fashion (talk about oxymoronic), well dressed chaps, "candy ravers", and most of all various forms of japanese street fashion... ganguro scares me to death though... let's not talk about that.
Speaking of fear, in addition to just panicking in general without cause, I'm hopelessly terrified of planes, being poisoned or drugged, being the victim of a random violent crime, the sky, and furries. Why focus on the negatives though, right?
I try my best to... as they say... "keep it posi", but I have yet to master the technique. I will persevere in my studies.
Studying? Why that brings me to another topic for discussion:
I study music theory, as composition/writing in various forms is what I do most with music. I also do a great deal of playing. Electric bass is my primary instrument, but I do a good deal on the gutiar and mandolin. In recent times I've added drums and theremin to the roster of "instruments I can play decently to proficiently, but only in certain contexts", a list which previously only contained trumpet and trombone. I also study banjo and recorder, but very sparringly. I'd like to increase the amount for both.
One thing I love to do is mess with electronics. As I already mentioned, I write a ton. A majority of my writing is done using MIDI based electronics that I manipulate. Something about synths of both the analog and digital world, 8-bit sounds, MIDI, and the soundchips of outdated computers and video game consoles just make me happy.
I have a love for all things cutesy, but just as much I love things that look awful or peculiar.
In the world of food I'm hard to please. I have developed peculiar tastes, but there is a few things I will always love above all else:
1. Pizza
2. Sushi
3. Curry (shrimp or beef)
4. Pancakes and French Toast
5. FUCKIN' WAFFLE FRIES
I consider myself something of a connoisseur of carbonated soft drinks, which is of course cause for yet another list:
1. Full Throttle
2. Jones Gingerbread Man Soda
3. Schweppes Raspberry Gingerale
4. Vanilla Coke
5. Vernors
6. Dr. Pepper Berries And Cream
I am also a bit of a tea nerd. I'd say I'm probably only about a level 5 or 6 out of 11 on the tea nerd scale, but it's still enough to cause problems when I'm given choices like "raspberry vanilla green tea" or "arizona iced tea".
My favorite kind of tea? Lapsang Souchong or Oolong.
I never have been good with the ladies, though they've been [mostly] good to me, but it doesn't matter anymore. I am taken now/forever and I have absolutely no problem with that.
I have never been with anyone before and felt so right.
I have an interest in the human mind and the things that affect it, but I've seen first hand the absolutely destructive power of it all.
I am a big supporter of unbiased drug and food research, but what do you care? Myspace isn't about politics!
If it were I'd say things like "I support following the constitution word for word, just making it more difficult for people to get guns if they can't be trust with them". But that's just crazy talk I guess.
Religion is something that myspace also isn't about... but if it were I'd say "I'm essentially an absurdist who has invested a great deal of time since the first grade cogitating what the truth may be, the powers of religion, existentialism, and the very concept of theism". Thankfully though, we don't have to talk about it. I've spent enough time wasting my life on that, it's time I got a childhood!
Video games (as mentioned before) are a large part of my life. I have absolutely no problem knowing that I've spent probably close to a year of my life or more simply sitting in front of a screen playing them.
I don't get obsessed as many Halo/SSB/WoW/etc fans do, because that's just plain gross.
By the way, let's have a pizza party.
Despite my introverted and paranoid nature, I do love to be outside and amongst people. I need more of it in my life.
More shows, more friends, more experiences, etc.
Other simple things about me include my love of being manly, building gummi ships, doing things I don't think I'm capable of, cleaning my room, talking about lumberjacks, interior design, cooking (even though I can't do it well), researching things that may or may not serve any purpose in knowing, looking for clothing, wasting copious amounts of time online, wishing life were more like a steam punk world, and making up sports.
Throw all of those components together and you've got something pretty close to me. Make sure you make it really difficult for this person you're creating in my image to open up to people or feel completely comfortable in social situations. Trust me, it'll make it much more authentic.
Oh, also make sure you make them speak in a manner that is far more elaborate than should be required, as they will probably feel that there is no other way to convey messages properly.
Here's a video of me singing the blues
Current and past musical endeavors:
• Bubblegum Octopus - probably the project I invest the most time in. The project combines elements of video game music style electronics, picopop, extreme metal, dance music, eurobeat, melodic death metal, punk, and whatever the hell else into a psychotic blend I lovingly refer to as spazzpop.
• Frame House - Some sort of shoegaze/indie type thing. It's officially a two piece group with Keith, but Dan will do second guitar for lives, Elliot will do drums and Anthony will do keys)
• c@ - Extreme avant-garde hybrid of straight noise, grind, noise rock, sludge metal, drone, spoken word, cybergrind, speed noise, ambient, and a wang load of things I can't categorize.
• Ultra Death Men - A three-piece where I am the only one without a master's degree in jazz. We originally just played some sort of experimental rock/free jazz music that is predominantly improvised. Lots of noise and lots of melody... also lots of tasteless. Now we've begun to play this fantic little math rock songs.
• Rew-mi-ref-rots - Two piece freak-out unit. I play guitar, program drums, and do some vocals. The amount of time signature changes and polyrhythms are there simply to be excessive.
• Fork Sister - Lo-fi, noisey electronic punk/skram/dance/grind freakouts that I've lovingly dubbed an "electrotrash" project. I think some day I may want to make it a two piece for extremely rare live performances.
• Black Clocks - Defunct party oriented digigrind I made without knowing such a thing existed. The goal was to make it a real band, but it died as a solo project after just one album
• Rage-a-holic Tortise - Incredibly strange experimental ambient/spoken word/noise chaos duo formed as the product of a strange sense of humor. Words can not actually explain it at all. Songs often featured our friends.
• Hurricane Metal - Hair metal/cock rock alter ego of Frame House. I do the vocals, bass, and LEAD GUITAR SHREDDINGGGG
• I Am A Hexagon - Not-so-friendly satire of all the effortless cyber-scene-gore projects on the internets. My alter ego Todd.
• First Aid Squid - Original satire project that satired the plethora of effortless MIDI based digigrind projects back in 06. The vocals were recorded before the songs were made in time with a metronome and then synth and drum parts were created.
• Pie Taster Telethon - Breakpop madness from DigiDan. I was vocalist and made some of the samples used.
• Black Alaskan - Electronic pop duo with Tommy.
• Blüdstrÿp - Improv grind/hardcore/metalcore band with Sean of Trees Above Mandalay and Tommy of The Take (NJ), occasionally featuring Nick of The Take. The band started with a single acoustic pop song made by Sean and Tommy, but expanded into becoming the most extreme metal super-group to ever exist. The band also collaborated under the name Terrordactyl as an acapella band.
The band only ever recorded one single called 'Hell Phone", that was accessible only by calling one of our cell phones. The band quickly disbanded as we realized we were simply too extreme to carry on safely.
• yamiwosukasu - first solo project I intended to be a solo project. Now defunct; formed in the wake of Rage-a-holic Tortise literally the day the project ended. The songs were both ambient/grind hybrids, short, dancey, battle music, and some noisey weirdness.
• Danny Levitz And The Mach 7 Trio - old hardcore punk, grunge, and rap metal band that died before it was legitimate. The band had a very informative freewebs page before FreeWebs changed it's name.
• Psychedelic Fudge - A band that wanted to become a ska band, but just played Beatles covers for the whole middle school. We felt like total badasses after the shows and skipped class for like... two whole periods.
• Static Revolution - Not worth talking about. Keith, Jon, and I played punk songs that sounded like Motörhead.
There is also a wonderful little band with way too many members that is not named yet. More info soon...
