About Me
In a nutshell, I'm a writer, jack-of-all-trades musician, mediocre illusionist, infrequent actor, and overall clown. I am writing a fantasy novel called "Beyond Mere Threads" that has been dragging on for some years, though I sincerely aim to have it completed this winter (2008). I also enjoy writing poetry, songs, "thoughts on life" tirades, and various short stories.I adore all things fantasy, medieval, magical, and exotic, and I confess to my odd obsessions with castles, dragons, gnomes (no, not for my yard), elves, and even pirates. I make an annual pilgimmage to the Texas Renaissance Festival, usually in a kilt or pirate garb (so far). I have a deep appreciation and respect for nature. Though I've never personally hugged a tree, per se, I am disgusted with how polluted and torn up our Earth has become. There is so little green anymore, just concrete, steel, and glass accented by trash. To remind others of that ever-growing tragedy and to promote awareness and appreciation for our environment, I annually participate in an Earth Day Jam featuring two of my favorite instruments -- didgeridoo and drums.Aside from writing as my main interest, one of my passions in life is music/songwriting, to include singing. I have a serious musical and cultural interest in the didgeridoo, but I also play keyboard, drums, bass guitar, tinwhistle, and hand drums (djembe and doumbek). I have written at least 30 songs and have composed several unique works on my Korg X3 (keyboard). I have been in a few bands before -- one having recorded a CD -- and often host my own didge/drum circles while still trying to tackle the novel writing.I am an avid reader, especially Lord of the Rings, any Xanth books, and Harry Potter. I also love books about medieval history, magic and illusions, the Old West, pirates, and other cultures. Though I would never claim to be perfect or to know it all, the Bible is my true inspiration and I couldn't live without it.I am somewhat of a videogame junkie, admitting that I'm addicted to World of Warcraft (Assention and Shadow Hand Guilds), Pirates!, Buried in Time, Morrowind, The Sims, Arcanum, Fallout, Champions of Norrath, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Stronghold, Knight's Chase, Lionheart, Dungeon Siege, Darkstone, Soulbringer, and Neverwinter Nights.On a more personal note, I am an admittedly flawed Christian, a husband of over 16 years, and proud parent. I cherish my wife and kids, and I spend much of my time with them and include them in many of my hobbies. They are part of what keeps me going in life.
