It's not easy describing yourself to other people. My debonair, witty and loveable may translate to your battered old villain. I hope not, though.I admit to odd tastes: I sometimes listen to ancient jazz and old politically motivated music and song from Weimar Berlin.I don't keep up appearances; if you ride in my car it is likely to be 10 years old - though the present one is actually quite a good car (an Audi).I've been a newspaper copy editor for too long - and am finnickity about the quality of written English. However of late I have got sick of trekking into an office every day and am beginning to write a novel.If I am scrubbed up I can look fairly respectable - but generally I like to be comfortable.I ride a folding bike and sometimes I get mud spattered. I hate sports - this is a field I find totally boring. But I love wandering in the woods - or pootering along in a boat.I almost never get angry - and I do not understand violence or know how to cope with it, other than not tolerate it.My way of getting things done is either to jump in and lead from the front - I was a union activist till not so long ago - but I also have a knack of getting other people to do things by the strategic planting of ideas.I think I have the right to call myself a feminist - I like the company of women but I have always thought of my women friends as friends and equals, never as conquests.I'm quite good with money and I like to get good value for it.As is apparent, I sometimes rabbit on for too long.
