Travel to foreign lands, good music, reading, cooking, crafting, beach walks, finding sea treasures, playing outside and having fun with my hubby and my friends.
Also, I was a "big sister" through Big Brothers, Big Sisters and it was a wonderful three years with my "little". It was amazing to watch her change so much from age 11 to age 14, and it was very rewarding. Everyone should consider being involved in this program.
I'd like to meet:
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton- two dynamos. Maya Angelou and Gloria Steinem because they are both amazing, strong women of great character.
Tom Petty, 'cause he rocks, and Andre 3000 would be cool to meet-what a strange and creative dude.
Music:
Generally, I like old music better. Old standbys are Radio Paradise (online radio station), Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin, Conjure One, Bonnie Raitt, Grateful Dead, Outkast, Sarah Harmer, and Tom Petty...amongst others. I had a lot of fun with punk such as the Descendents, Bad Religion, and GWAR as a youngster.
Movies:
All time favorites: Elf, The Big Lebowski, Office Space, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original one), The Color Purple, A Room With A View, Rear Window.
Television:
To list what I'd like would "out" me as the loser I am who watches too much TV.
Books:
Mysteries in general. "The Power Of One" is a wonderful book, you should go read it now. Sherlock Holmes. Octavia Butler's books. Sue Grafton's alphabet mysteries, P.D. James' Adam Dalgliesh mysteries, Alexander McCall Smith's "Ladies' No.1 Detective Agency" series are fun and easy reads. And, I admit I'm addicted to Harry Potter. Oh, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was one of the funniest books I've ever read, though the movie was only a fraction as good as the book (of course).
Heroes:
Again, Maya Angelou is an amazing spokesperson for oppressed people everywhere. Gloria Steinem is an inspiration (what can I say, I minored in Women's Studies). People who are truly fearless and are "free spirited" and just pick up and go somewhere for the experience.
