About Me

.

My Interests

Hanging out with my husband, listening to music, art, L'Abri (www.labri.org), reading, traveling, gardening, watching birds, Church and working on our house... I'm completely addicted to good coffee, quiet mornings and www.cuteoverload.com

I'd like to meet:

I like meeting authentic people who are comfortable, easy-going, intelligent, okay with silence and fun to be around.

Music:

Pretty much everything - but my favorites are currently Innocence Mission, Low, Dreadzone, Joss Stone, The Cure, Jann Arden, Rolling Stones, The Smiths...

Movies:

The Story of Us (sweet movie with THE man, Bruce Willis - makes me cry everytime), Lost in Translation (when I'm feeling melancholy), Dreams for an Insomniac (when I want a smart romantic film), Run Lola Run (a great film overall), Dancer in the Dark (a bit disturbing, but fantastic movie with Bjork), Princess Bride (who doesn't like that movie?)

Television:

I just don't have time for TV. When I get a half an hour, I watch What Not to Wear or Cash Cab. My hubby is always trying to get me to sit still long enough to watch a documentary (and they're usually good).

Books:

Currently reading: The Feminine Soul and Don't Think Pink and My Hands Came Away Red Some favorites that have changed the way I view life: Foolproofing Your Life (Jan Silvious), Sacred Rhythms (Ruth Haley), Madman (Tracy Groot), Hedges (Jerry Jenkins), Love and Respect (Emerson Eggerichs), With New Eyes (Margaret Becker)

Heroes:

My father-in-law (I miss him so much), people who have gone through tragedy and have used it to help others, wise people who can concisly articulate exactly what they mean in a kind and gentle (non-condescending) way.

My Blog

Safely in my iPod

My generic mp3 player stopped working not long ago... not that I used it all that much.  It was a little sad, but I've always had a love/hate relationship with walkmans, diskmans, mp3 players.&nb...

Jann’s words

I read Jann Arden's blog yesterday and this keeps roaming around in my head: I am an only child it seems, both my brothers so far from my life. I don't know what to do about it. I really don't. Y...

Rude People and the Happy Bus

Today as I was walking to the train, I just about got hit by a car.  Not a "ha-ha, I almost got hit" -  it was a frightening experience.  I mean, I was an inch away from being...

Flirting with Facebook

I heard from a friend recently who said that she found a bunch of people on facebook, so I had to check it out.  I've given it a pretty good try - I have over 20 friends after just two ...

Seeing things differently

On my way to work each morning, I see a couple of homeless men.  Lately, I've actually SEEN them.  The man who stands at Starbucks and opens the door for the high-class business people has ...

an observation

Quick observation - Usually when I ride the train in to work, the conductor gets on the intercom and he briskly barks "Passengers, have your tickets ready and on display. Clybourn is the next stop."&n...

Bluetooth, store hours and people on the train

I have some things on my mind today... For starters, I have to confess that people who use those goofy ear piece bluetooth things annoy me.  What really bugs me is when you see a person wear it e...

Mandala

I've started doing a mandala every morning... it's an interesting practice.  All you do is, quiet yourself... draw a circle on a piece of paper... and just start in the middle.  That's it.&n...
