Tipsy Gypsies are a collection of people from Amsterdam, America, England & Ireland. They came together in London through meeting on the live music scene (the Fiddlers Elbow, the Hampstead Horseshoe, the Black Horse, Folk in the Cellar Bar, the Hemmingford Pub) and since then have been working together on different musical projects. Singer/songwriter Paul van Gelder started visiting open mic sessions all over London playing his own material and cover versions, jamming with different musicians. Upstairs at the Pentameter Theatre he met Irish flute & fiddle player Peter McNamara. Peter & PvG played several gigs as a duo in Aldeburgh and London before American percussionist Danyael Davis joined them. Now they have teamed up with Ben Goldberg on double bass, Marie McCormack on whistles, Robert Sean Murphy on electric guitar, and occassionaly Mick & Eileen Barker on Fiddle & Accordion. Collectively they bring to the table a unique fusion of instruments, influences and styles sure to lift spirits in one form or another. They are gigging their eclectic blend of Folk & Roll, Celtic Pop, and World Beat with a distinctive flair on a regular basis, check upcoming shows sections for dates & details.
