About Me

Layout Generator by MyspaceLayoutSpy.com
The band's first members, guitarist Paul Southern and original vocalist Ian "Max" Maxwell, began jamming together in 2002, writing and developing a style which can still be heard in the latest incarnation of the group. The project, going under the banner of The Faceless, incorporated all the elements of the music Paul and Ian loved - heavy riffs inspired by luminaries such as Pantera and Machine Head were combined with the groove and rhythmn of bands such as Soil and Disturbed. Max brought his love of melodic grungy vocals to the mixture, inspired by acts such as Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam.
While ideas came thick and fast, the band did not exist in any true form until Paul and Ian were joined by bassist Dave Sunley in July 2005. This lineup (still lacking a drummer) did not last more than a few months before Dave left the group, despite having been joined by rythmn guitarist Dan Wright. Dave's departure was swiftly followed by the introduction of Durham-based sticksman and all-round metalhead Duncan Blakemore in October.

The full line-up was completed in November. Having looked for a bassist in the local area and drawn blanks each time, "Hefty" Al Pringle was eventually recommended by Duncan, who had played with him before in Relik (a Durham-based metal covers band).
Al's shared love of groove-driven rock and metal (along with a secret love for power metal...) added yet another dimension to the constantly-developing band.
The following months saw the band write and record demos of original material (courtesy of a Mac and Al's mystical "box of lights") and begin rehearsals at Stanley-based White Wolf Studios.
But line-up changes threatened to demolish The Faceless. Following the first live airing of the new material, Dan was let go by the band, who desired a more experienced and technically-minded guitarist. The group continued writing and recording as a four-piece for several months, before "musical differences" led to the departure of vocalist Max. The Faceless were no more...
Without a vocalist or rhythmn guitarist, the three core members soldiered on, continuing to write and record. New life was breathed back into the band following the introduction of guitarist Karl Stephens, an old school friend and former band mate of Paul, who brought with him a tight rhythmic style to complement Paul's lead.
Despite lacking a vocalist, a revived sense of optimism cemented the band, who decided to cut all ties with its former incarnation by reforming as MirrorFace, and polishing their demos while beginning their search for a top-quality vocalist. This search bore fruit in the talented Andy Terry, but still it seemed that something was missing...After severing ties with Andy, the greatest Christmas present ever came late 2006, when Paul and Max re-kindled their musical union,(Max returning from a battle against alcohol addiction, which he lost!) With a new style and new direction, expect something special as Mirrorface are ready to take on the world!
