About Adam Ridley
Adam is a Forsyth County Georgia native whose love for country music reaches deep into his soul.
A "preacher's kid", he grew up in a home filled with music. His sister played piano at their dad's church, and Adam loved to watch and listen as she practiced on the piano in the den. When he was about 6 years old, he started pecking around on the keys himself. The first song he taught himself was "The Old Gospel Ship." He never took piano lessons - just kept plinking around for fun.
When he was about 10 years old, his mom heard that piano players often find it easy to learn to play the guitar. That was all she wrote - Adam started taking lessons and built a solid basic knowledge. Then his "ear" kicked in, and he wrote his first song when he was 15. To date, he's written about 20 original songs, and is still writing. His early songs show a lot of simple, raw talent, while his more recent work reflects the structural benchmarks of a more seasoned writer. His voice has more of a raw country sound. It's not all that polished, and he doesn't sound like any other artist in particular.
To date, his only professionally-produced song is "Lady Liberty", originally written as a poem in the aftermath of 9/11. Then a tune popped into his head, and a song was born. It's unusual in that it has no chorus, but the song still pulls together very well as you listen. "Lady Liberty" was included on a compilation album released by Branraq Records and the Local Talent Association of Georgia, and dedicated to the heroes who lost their lives trying to save others on that fateful day. Highlights in Adam's career thus far include performing on stage at the video shoot for Gretchen Wilson prior to her concert at Gwinnett Center, where he raised the 1500 people from a lull to a frenzy. He performed "Lady Liberty" in a taped concert aired in 5 states on cable TV, and was profiled in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He recently became a PROUD NEW PARTNER IN HOPE with St. Jude Children's Hospital . In July, his "Front Porch" reflections were the basis of a "Small Town Soapbox" by Moby In The Morning . In August, Adam was selected by CountryAtlanta.com as their Local Luminary. He's currently working with some friends to form a new band (as yet un-named).
God has truly been blessing Adam's music lately, and only He only knows where the road will lead. Hopefully it's gonna lead straight to Nashville!
