About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4I started playing music at the age of 3 and as I grew up I played recorder, clarinet, piano and oboe. During junior high school, I picked up the electric bass and started playing with some friends, forming a band that lasted past high school. I started college at the University of California at Santa Cruz and studied electronic music with Gordon Mumma, who was a great inspiration and opened my ears to many many diverse sounds. After that I went to UMASS Amherst and started playing some jazz. Since they didn't offer an electric bass major, I transferred to the Berklee School of Music and graduated in 1985. After that, I studied privately with Ross Adams and played in various bands and helped to form Shockra with Felix Rentschler and Jonathan Abel ini 1988. That lasted until 1994 and then in '95 I moved to Boulder, CO. I have played here with a wide variety of characters, from very experimental to very accessible and have enjoyed it all! This summer I joined up with Great American Taxi and am having a great time traveling the country. I am also teaching and running a location recording company (see www.cafemontalban).
