The Brainy Cramps

About Me

It all began in a small, unknown town on the New Jersey shoreline known as Sis. Here in Sis, two young brothers Splint and Griff Cramp each shared one dream. These entrepreneurial siblings had visions of being successful Miniature Golf Course designers like their estranged Uncle Drave. Uncle Drave, despite his pock marked face and peg leg, got mad laid and his two young nephews knew that being “Putt Putt” architects would help them hook up with all the fine ladies in Sis. These dreams however would quickly be shattered when they were expelled from Sis High School for an incident that involved Principal Whitman, a goat named Wimpy and some wooden matches. Without a High School diploma the duo knew they couldn't get the architect degrees and they would need to pursue their goal. So with nothing but time on their hands, the two brothers took up trash picking. It was their dumpster diving endeavors that lead to the spawning of what the entire world now knows as the musical brilliance of The Brainy Cramps. You see, the boys "found" two acoustic guitars in a recycle bin. They took them home to their basement, where they began learning simple chords. Every day and every night, down in their cellar they wrote songs about their life experiences, like their run-in’s with clergymen, wild sea adventures, unique home decorating tips, and of course drinking. Soon they were playing gigs everywhere and selling out packed ranch houses all over Sis. Word of the bands success spread like warm butter on a hot biscuit and thanks to the popularity of the Information Super Highway, the band soon became popular all over the world. Hearing that Boston, MA was a melting pot for all kinds of musicians, they picked up and moved in the summer of 1999 and have lived there ever since. They bought a helicopter. Still, despite the chopper and all of their success there was indeed something missing… a drummer. As luck would have it, the Cramp brothers received a letter from their cousin Crawdad in New Orleans. It told a harrowing story of how Crawdad was homeless with no scratch to his name and was living under a bridge in the bayou with his Siamese cat, named Pestilence. Splint and Griff agreed that they needed to help, so they offered Crawdad a gig with them. The rest is history folks. The debut album The Brainy Cramps Go to the Beach (recorded at Fallen Angel Records in Quincy, MA, produced by Eric Edmonston) is 20 tracks of pure genius and will not disappoint. The Album includes such fan favorites as: “The Great Divide”, “You Dropped the Soap” and “I Made it with a Priest”. Pick up the new CD today and The Brainy Cramps will see you at a confessional box near you. Meanwhile, get on your knees and pray to the Almighty BC.
