Arrington "Dat Boy Dstyles" Smith has always stayed true. Born in Houston Texas in 1983 him and his mother moved to Ft. Worth Texas shortly after his birth. Raised under a single mother, life was hard but his mom tried to keep him on a straight path. "My mom tried to keep me out of gangs and thugs by putting me in private school, but it didnt work," say Dstyles. After one school didnt work it would be another than another untill finally she opted to put him public school for good. It was the 8th grade when Dstyles decided to start ryhming. Influenced by the likes of U.G.K., Scarface, Three 6 Mafia, and 8ball & M.J.G. rapping became very easy. "Back then everything on the radio was all east or west coast," says Dstyles "But when No Limit, Cash Money, and others exploded onto the scene I knew it was some hope for the south".By the 10th grade he decided he could make extra money selling underground cd's out of his car. Seeing an ad with George Lopez's (Owner of T-town Music/DSR) 2-way pager number Dstyles decided to hit him up and try to get his foot in the door. After meeting with Lopez at his cd store in Dallas Dstyles met all of the undergound artists that are major artsits now like Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Trae, D.S.R., and others. But after meeting Mike Jones and hanging out with him, Mike and his manager T. Flowers descovered that Dstyles and his friend Mistah Tommy had talent and wanted them to be down with his Ice Age Ent imprint. After a while Mistah Tommy decided to go with another label and Dstyles decided to keep repping Ice Age since Mike Jones was a good friend, but in 2004 after Mike signed a major deal with Asylum Records Dstyles never heard from him again. "I thought we were better than that but I see how fame changes some people," says Dstyles. With Mike and Tommy gone it just made him motivated.In 2004 Dstyles dropped a mixtape called "Stritckly Bizness" with Dallas bred DJ Drop and enlisted everyone he was still cool with in the undergound scene. Selling every single copy in the streets and a couple of mom and pops shops Dstyles gained attention from people in his city and a couple of DJ's. Still independent and unsigned Dstyles still persists to make music. Not only rapping also producing with his long time friend Shannon. The duo have already sold beats to slain Denver Broncos star Darrent Williams before he was killed, and a couple of local artists. "After being in this game for a while now and seeing how people act in the music biz", says Dstyles.
