About Me

I play poker online for a living. Here's how it all got started.I was a software engineer and along came the dotcom bust....
Without the ability to relocate, I was forced to take a job in a plastics factory that was straight from hell. Since this was a thermoforming company, the air was bad, and the wages worse. The place was dark and depressing and the equipment was held together with spit and bailing wire. Half the people didn't speak english, and the other half were on parole. Need I say more?
I had been playing poker online for about six months, and was starting to reach some of my goals. Home sick one day, I was passing the time playing poker when I suddenly realized that I had made more in 4 hours than I made at the factory in a week.
The following Sunday I won $1,040.00 in a sit and go tournament. That was almost one month's take home pay. Needless to say, I was hooked.
Shortly after that, I became very sick. I had every test in the book and called a halt to it when exploritory surgery came up. Turns out I needed to change my diet and my job. I just couldn't go back. That was about nine months ago, and I am still going stronge.
Now I spend my days playing poker and making more than I did at the factory. But then, that's not hard to do. I am looking for friends to talk earning a living with online poker with.
In the last nine months I've learned a ton about earning a living playing online. Most of the players who earn their living online won't tell you that's what they do, and have no big name. I will use my blog to post some of my discoveries regarding earning a living with online poker.

My Interests

Eco-friendly technology
Internet Gaming
Mushroom Hunting (the legal kind)

I'd like to meet:

Annie Duke and Howard Lederer. I have respect for all of the touring pro's, but these two rank the highest. They don't present themselves as anything great. They don't over celebrate when they win, and they don't insult other players when they lose. No matter how the cards are coming, they are very gracious players. What class!

Movies:

The Day After Tomorrow
Any Mythology such as Troy or Alexander
If it takes place in space it's gotta be good, even if it's "B" grade.
True stories fascinate me because fact really is stranger than fiction.

Television:

I'd rather be playing poker.

Heroes:

Stan Meyers

Poker: Gambling or Business?

That's a touchy question for a lot of players.  I guess the bottom line would be the player's approach to the game. For the recreational player, the answer is obvious.  It's gambling.  ...
