Electrifying vocal performances and genuine heart-felt persona dub her "the funk Diva of the Dirty (South)". Born in Ridgecrest, CA and raised in Memphis, TN, Deneka LaShea Lewis AKA LottaLox began a musical ascent at age 8 with award winning performances in vocal and pageant competitions. While in high school, her talents developed enormously. Deneka soon became a sought after support vocalist for regional blues acts. In the winter of 2002, Deneka was cast for her first major theatrical role in Black Nativity. In, 2004, her thespian career reached a new high at Theatre Memphis critically acclaimed, Aint Misbehavin. This performance landed a coveted BB Award for Best Ensemble Cast. Deneka made Memphis history with an unforgettable performance as the larger-than-life dominatrix, Evilene, in Kevin Hills’ visionary re-creation of The Wiz. It was during this performance that Memphis producer, W. Darrell Murray, shouted during the performance; Oh my God she is incredible! With Murray's unrelenting encouragement, Deneka rose to her life long dream: soul music artist. Deneka took stage as a featured regular and crowd favorite, at Precious Cargos monthly neo-soul show-SoulFlo.To her credits, Deneka has shared the stage the with the likes of Regina Belle, Tracey Ellis Ross, who stated "Your voice is so beautiful" and Ruby Wilson; she wowed audiences at 2006 The National Black Mayors Convention, 2006 Tougaloo College Presidents Ball and the 2004 W.C. Handy Awards."I was told I did not have the talent to be anything other than a background singer. I am honored that there are so many people in my life that inspire the fire that forces me to be persistent and non complacent. (These people) tend to see what I have been blinded by (Now I have) constant light." Deneka is currently completing her upcoming cd release.
