Lava Vice (meaning Lava Voice) is an extraordinary reggae and dancehall soundsystem from Germany. It was founded at the end of 2006 and is owned and managed by its selecter Matyu whose love for reggae music evolved already more than 12 years ago.
Though it is an one-man-project with low financial and temporal capacities the aim is to bring best-quality mixtapes, dubplates and remixes to the audience. Therefore Lava Vice collaborates with some of the best recording studios, artistes and sound engineers in reggae industry to ensure high-quality and professional productions.
Right now Lava Vice and Elevation Records together released the debut album of Matyus good friend and jamaican artiste Colah Colah. For 2009 a tour with Colah Colah and former Free Willy artiste Kananga is planned.
Musically Lava Vice is mainly but not only devoted to roots and consciousness which possesses the power to uplift and guide people to something positive. However Lava Vice also loves to entertain the audience with music that does not necessarily fall in the above categories.
Not only the fact that Lava Vice is completely run by one person but releases audio material with the quality one would not expect from such a small soundsystem makes it outstanding. Also special focus is put on the collaboration with good, upcoming artistes whose international breakthrough is yet to come. In contrast to many other soundsystems Lava Vice is interested in artistes who are still unrecognized by the world but possess musical talents that can compete or even overtrump some of the big and well-known reggae artistes.
Being about 3 years in the reggae business Lava Vice built up and maintained a good relationship to many jamaican artistes and some of them became Matyu's real friends. In order to support them Lava Vice built up a long term and serious dubplate service and is known for its good work amongst many sounds and major and upcoming artistes including Zareb, Spectacular, Ninjaford, Jaggy D & Poly Famous, Winston Slickers and many many more.
Another and maybe the most significant point concerning the philosophy of Lava Vice Sound is the love for music. Everything is done because Matyu loves the jamaican music to the fullness and respects its culture in all aspects. It goes without saying that Lava Vice is limited in its financial and temporal possibilities and therefore can not compete with big, international soundsystems. Lava Vice is not interested in gaining money with the work it does. It wants to spread its vibes all over the world and share the love for the music with everyone who is willing to listen.
