The Honker Room is a recording studio in Minneapolis, MN. It is run by Chris Coyne from the band Janis Figure. It is a closed studio, not open to the public. The idea behind this studio is to help out bands/musicians who do not have the money to record at the "big" studios. It is run on the barter system. Providing I like the band or songwriter, you can get time by trading a piece of music equipment or some other resource, like construction work. All projects are worked out on a per project basis. I do not do this to make money. Sadly, I have a day job. I do this for the love of recording bands/musicians I like. Some of the bands I have recorded/engineered or worked with are: (please note not all these projects were recorded at the Honker Room) Janis Figure, John Swardson, Season to Risk, The Spittin Cobras, Hammerhead, Sadie Foster, Erik Tasa, Coup de Grace, Druel, The Blue Veins, and a ton more. The Honker Room is a digital 24 track studio. Also available is a 16 track portable digital studio.I like to record Rock/Punk/Raw Blues bands and singer/songwriter types with a alt. country tip. No Nu Emo crap.
If you are a musician or band looking for somewhere to take your next project email me and if it sounds like something both of us would be into we can talk about the next step.
