Hit the Swim

About Me

Theory: Emergent from the ashes littering the bottom of so many glasses, Hit the Swim. Inspired by a photograph whose surrogate title is "a catastrophe of water" (F. Ponge), it is likely that such an epithet describes HTS's sound. But first; HTS is composed of one person. There I said it. You want his name? Cram it with walnuts ugly. All you will ever know of him, mostly, will come through this website. Ergo, he is a cartoon character whose individuality is unimportant. There are infrequent collaborators. This is suitable. One person then, a computer, various instruments; a means to be creative in more than one way.Praxis: Hit the Swim began as an idea for a young man (Jared McGeough) to be involved in music again without the usual baggage (damaged friendships, power struggles, etc). Weaned on the quasi-infamous punk rock scene in mid and late 1990's Regina Saskatchewan, he learned a few hard lessons and several soft ones. Only now have the benefits of such lessons been tapped. His former bandmates include Ghost of Modern Man drummer Tristan Helgason, and Geronimo (ex-Despitado) bassist Henry Brass. In 2001, as a member of Dayliketoday, Jared had the great fortune to tour with Swedish rock group extraordinaire Starmarket, and play shows with the Big Collapse, Burning Airlines, Shiner, Propagandhi, the Weakerthans, Samiam, and several others big and small. It has been 5 years since his last project.curriculum vitae: 1995-2000: Proposition 304/a jack with one eye (guitar/vocals). 2001: Dayliketoday (guitar). 2005: Hit the Swim (everything)
