I have been a fan of Burton Cummings since the late sixties. In my opinion, Burton IS THE GUESS WHO!! Without Burton, there is no Guess Who. Don't waste your money to see them without Burton Cummings in the line-up!! He is "THE VOICE"!!! There is no one like him. I have the utmost admiration and respect for Mr Cummings. He is very articulate, and I love to hear him tell stories from his past, and believe me he has lots to share. When that book is published, I'll be first in line to purchase it. He sets the bar very high, for upcoming artists. Don't get me wrong. I'm not putting him up on a pedestal. I know he's human, and puts his pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us. He screws up, he's had a bad reputation in the past of being aloof to some fans. I say, give the guy a break, and leave him alone. Did you ever think, that he's tired....just tired!! When he wants company, his fans will be there. We don't need to know every detail about his personal life, and to critize everything he does. I was at the taping of Burton's "Up Close and Alone" cd in Toronto, a few years ago. What an awesome night that was, to have him sitting there alone,on stage, singing his heart out for us. That's one of my most treasured memories. Another time, back in the 70's, I waited in the rain for about 4 hours to see him at the Bandshell at the CNE in Toronto. I was lucky enough to sit in the 3rd row that night, and can honestly say that it was definately worth the wait!!Burton and I are the same age, and when I go to see him in concerts now, maybe he can't sing a few of those old songs anymore, but when I hear him belt out those old familiar songs that have so many memories attached to them, and hold those long, long, notes, I say to myself, "way to go Burton, you still have it baby". If the good spirits shine down on me, maybe some day I'll have the chance to shake the hand of "THE VOICE".
