WATSON ARTS, under the artistic direction of Mary Fulham, is a resident company at La MaMa E.T.C. that develops and presents original work for the theater with a particular emphasis on women. COMING, APHRODITE! played 3 weeks, February 20 - March 8, 2009 at La MaMa's Annex Theater. "Life-enhancing!...Innovative...Uproarious...a terrific show, with good acting and refreshingly original songs!" -Curtain Up In 2008, we presented Italy's legendary TEATRO DEL CARRETTO in their U.S. premiere of Pinocchio and Bianca Neve at La MaMa's Annex Theater. Our production of TROPHY WIFE –"A bright, perky little musical!" (NY Times) – received three Innovative Theater Award Nominations for Best Score by Terry Waldo and Paul Foglino, Best Choreography by Heidi Latsky, and Best Costumes by Ramona Ponce. BALLETTO STILETTO, –"Glorious! ...an East Village wintertime hit!" (Newark Star Ledger)– also received an IT Award nomination for Best Performance Art Production. HERCULES IN HIGH SUBURBIA–"One of the Best Musicals in many a year!" (Backstage)– won the NYC Fringe Award for Best Score by Paul Foglino.
P.S.69 starring Susan Jeremy – "an extraordinary piece of theatre!" (The Scotsman)–swept the Montreal Fringe Awards winning the prestigious Just For Laughs prize and the Centaur Award for Best Production. DEVOTION—"...throbs with real heart, rapid-fire design and ironic humor." (Village Voice) won the MECCA Award (Montreal English Critics Circle Award.)
