I started playing the drums (seriously) at age 9 in elementary school band (snare drum). I got my first full drumset at the age of 12. Lessons with local drum teachers, at around 13 or 14. Playing with Carcass On Asphalt, (a Black Sabbath, old Metallica cover band) at 16, Concrete Lifeboat (an original band) at 17. Right around this time I was studying with Al Miller, and I also took some lessons with Jim Chapin, all while teaching my own students. That's right when I realized I really wanted to play jazz/fusion. Thanks ! Chic (Romantic Warrior). I am currently on the Vic Firth education team, have taught drums at the world famous Long Island Drum Center (drums & piano), been the drum dept. manager at Sam Ash Music in Carle Place, NY, played on Carnival Cruise ships, and played and toured with many local and national bands. And, I'm still at it and learning everyday.
