What do you do when your band tours the world, plays sold out shows, sells lots of records, and then comes to a sudden stop? If that band is Teen Idols and your names are Matt, Heather, and Kevin, you call up your pals Geis and Gui from Rehasher. You then take those friends and create a meaner, leaner band and call it Bullets to Broadway. Presto! Ouila! Eureka! Bartender! This band might best be described as the merger of two storied musical towns: Nashville and Gainesville. A veritable rock axis, if you will. Half the band is from Music City, while the other two shredders hail from the new-school hotbed of gritty punk. The union goes beyond that; all five members of Bullets To Broadway are time-tested friends that, above all other things, want to have a blast playing music. You can hear just that when you listen to their 8-song debut EP on Red Scare called Drink Positive. Shit, these guys even drink positive! But dont get me wrong, its not all high fives and free Sparks. Oh no. Their penchant for touring has these kids packed in a van for days at a time as they travel the country and perform their tunes. But you cant really blame them for enjoying it since theyve already played shows with NOFX and Bad Religion; and they just recently wrapped up a full U.S. tour with Suicide Machines along with a west coast run with Lagwagon. With a new release under their collective belts, they plan to tour in 2006 until they wear out their atlas. Thenoff to Europe! For the recording of the Drink Positive EP the band recruited long-time friend Roger Lima, bassist and vocalist of Less Than Jake. After a few days at Rogers pad (credited as The Moat House, but Im pretty sure he has running water and shit), the band emerged with 8 songs and over 20 minutes of material for their debut. Whats it sound like? Well, we are running out of room and you DO need some shit to plagiarize, so lets give you some reference points. Imagine a modern-day marriage between Screeching Weasel and the Descendents, all the while keeping Heathers sweet vocal harmonies in tact. Think of it as a high-octane, sugary cocktail. That should be enough bad metaphors for now. Look for these guys and gal to be touring their brains out for the next many months, and give Drink Positive a couple spinsOh, and see if you can pick out the Go-Gos cover!Bullets To Broadway Drink Positive EP out November 8th!For press, interviews, or if youre just plain lonely: [email protected]
