The Center for Oceanic Awareness, Research, and Education is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization based in
the San Francisco Bay Area.
Its purpose is
to study our oceans and increase
awareness of the earth's marine environment through
educational programs and outreach.
Our mission:
Nearly three quarters of the earth is covered by ocean, and changes
to the marine environment have a direct effect on the
planet, the environment, and ultimately, our lives.
Yet mankind continues to dump, pollute, overfish, and
in a variety of other ways, contribute to the demise of
the ocean and the the lives of its inhabitants.
The Center for Oceanic Awareness, Research, and Education
seeks to enlighten people, young and old, to the plight
of the oceans, to change the way they think and act, and
to encourage them to create positive and lasting change.
