About Me

Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Color me Pink

I'm just a single girl in a crazy world trying to find my place and raise my son to the best of my ability. I aspire to many things; being a good mom, being a good person, treating people the way I want them to treat me - giving credit where it's due, showing respect for my elders, showing respect for myself, being a good friend, daughter, sister... I just want happiness and want to make those around me happy to be around me. I love people for the most part... just not shitty people who would do anything and everything for their own interests over that of the greater good. I want to be educated and liberated. I want to be heard. I want to love and be loved. One day I hope to be fortunate enough to find true love with someone who would stand by my side and would want the same from me in return - who loves my son as I do... but for now, I have a great life and great family, absolutely amazing, wonderful, smart and gorgeous 5 year old son who defines my life and keeps me on my toes. I never knew how crazy and exhilarating life could be before I became a mother. There really is no other greater calling in life than one that enables you to teach and learn from others in the way that a parent does. After 4 long years of trying to get through pre-requisites while holding down a full time job I am happy to say I've finally begun the path to my career as a registered nurse. I started nursing school in August '07 and am looking forward to having a career where I can help people and make a difference... not to mention posessing the ability to give my son the future and education he deserves. I am constantly looking for the positive in every situation because there is so much negative in the world that it would be easy to let it all get to me. But I refuse because I want to LIVE. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That's what it's all about. Nothing great is ever achieved without sacrifice. I love my life and I feel very fortunate to have all that I do.. and I'm looking forward to a bright future filled with wonderful memories to tell my grand kids about.

My Interests

education, parenting, working out, learning new things from a variety of sources, learning little known facts that can be used as conversation starters, being whitty and funny, making people laugh, namely my little boy, teaching my son manners and introducing him to new and different things... music is a big HUGE interest of mine and always has been.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet my grandfathers. One was a navy pilot who died in WWII and the other died when my mother was only 17 years old. I've always heard what great men they were and I wish I could have had the chance to experience that first hand. I would also love to meet some of history's great women - Florence Nightingale, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Elizabeth Blackwell, Lt. Eileen Collins, Frida Kahlo, Clara Shortridge Foltz, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday... it'd be nice to shake the hands of those women who went before me and proved what they did so I could have a chance to do something great in my life... in a male dominated world.... And now one of my oldest friend's (JoVan Hernandez) first "Voidmate" video. Enjoy!Respirator

Books:

Textbooks, textbooks, drug guides and... more textbooks!

Heroes:

I have a few. My mom, my son, my sister and my brother's girlfriend, Gigi. Each one of these people represent things which I admire and things which I aspire to liken. Musicians: Lauryn Hill - for her inspirational lyrics and melodic messages as well as being one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard. The fact that she's apparently been through so many things and felt the way I have felt at times and has seemingly prevailed. Of course the fact that she lives her dream while being a mother it seems any kid would be proud to call their mom. She represents the strength I wish to gain. Also Sarah McLachlin for being incredible and selfless and using her music as a way to educate, inspire and enlighten. Of course that all also applies to my girl, Lauryn ;) These two women use their voices to stand up for their beliefs and for that... I am truly in awe. That is the kind of music career I would like to have if I were ever to become a professional musician.
