I'm drawn to Native American Beliefs and Eastern Philosophies, like Taoism & Buddhism, because of the way they integrates man’s existence with nature.I’m a strong supporter of science and scientific research. My father was an environmental scientist and botanist who work for the US Forest service for 35 years. From him I learned that Man is both part of and totally depended on Nature.
Mans connection to nature should be the primary factor in making the proper decisions about almost everything. Mankinds primary objective should be how to create the best chance for long term sustainability and survival.
In reality everything seems to be done for short tearm profits and to consume non-renewable natural resources as fast as possible. Profit and consumption are not divine they have no conscious, only a balance sheet.
This unfortunate reality of mans short-sightedness and immediate gratification, I believe is just man acting out on his most primitive impulses as a hunter gather.
The idea that unregulated consumption, accelerated growth in all things, (except knowledge) is good, is a destructive Myth.
I believe, most of the really important questions about Life and the Universe can only be answered by Science.
