Anders Lønne Grønseth

Norwegian reed-player, born 1979, resident in Oslo, Norway. I started playing the piano at early age, and got my first tenor sax when it was still bigger than me. My interest in improvised and composed music is free of boundaries, as I always seek sounds that are new to me. Quite often I find these sounds in various traditional styles around the world, as well as in my studies of jazz and contemporary classical music composition(Olivier Messiaen's music and theory has been a great influence) at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo, Indian classical music at Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya's School of Universal Music in Calcutta, India, and my travels to Africa and the Carribean. Luckily, the world is full of music, you just have to find your spot and start digging! ............................................ I compose and play regularly with my quartet Sphinx(www.sphinx-jazz.com, www.myspace.com/sphinxjazz) , and other constellations such as the Anders Lønne Grønseth/David Skinner duo(www.myspace.com/gronsethskinner) and Mini Macro Ensemble, with a string quartet, piano/keys and saxophone. Together with my friend and collegue Audun Ellingsen, I run the record label Pling Music(www.plingmusic.com).Additionally, there are various other projects, some freelance work and plenty of music still to be played...
