I'm a native of New Mexico growing up in Chicana/o communities. I work as a college professor in Chicago. I write about Chicana/o and Latina/o culture, especially Chicano rap music. My book has just been released. The first book ever on Chicano rap artists and their work. Pick it up from the University of Texas Press (www.utexas.edu/utpress) or book stores everywhere.Besides rap and many other types of music, I am a father who lives with his kids part of the year, I exercise and participate in martial arts, and engage in community organizing activities.I'm new to the Chi and am having a great time exploring this great city.Big ups to all the artists, musicians, writers who are uplifting their communities, Black, Latino, Chicano, Native American, Asian, White, etc. Keep up the struggle.
