About Me
Lauren has had a love for music, and singing from an early age. Throughout her younger years, she was privileged to participate in engagements with the Australian Opera Children’s Chorus, Gondwana Voices and the Sydney Children’s Choir, Sydney School Singers, various state and national music festivals, and tours representing the Olympic Arts Festival in the United States. In the U.S.A, Lauren was given the opportunity to perform as a soloist, chamber ensemble member, and chorister in such acclaimed venues as the National Basilica, the Corcoran Museum of Art, Lincoln Centre, Disneyland, the Pentagon, the International Press Conference, the Australian Embassy, and Carnegie Hall under the baton of John Rutter. At the completion of high school, Lauren was awarded with the Sony Foundation Music Scholarship for 2001 by the University of New South Wales.In recent years, Lauren has been privileged to work with various ensembles and artists such as the Bel A’Capella Ensemble, Sing NSW, and renowned pianist James Muire. 2006 saw Lauren perform as the sole female finalist in the Australian Singing Competition at Sydney Conservatorium's Verbruggen Hall. The panel awarded Lauren the opportunity to perform with the Sydney Omega Ensemble and pianist Andrea Katz in April 2007 as part of the Art Gallery of New South Wales “Resonate Seriesâ€. In August 2007, Lauren was also awarded the Barbara Howard Vocal Prize and first place in the Friends of The State Opera SA Inc. Aria Competition, and following this she appeared as guest soloist with the Australian Pops Orchestra for their “Bernstein and Friends†concert in Melbourne’s Hamer Hall. Other engagements for 2007 included solo performances for the Goethe Institut “GERmany Faces of Australia†Festival opening at the Sydney Seymour Centre, for the Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra’s Bruckner Dminor Mass, and many corporate appearances throughout Sydney. In 2008 Lauren made the finals of the Mietta Song Recital Awards in Melbourne with her pianist Andrea Katz. Together they were awarded the Nino Sanciolo Memorial Scholarship, the Audience Prize, and the ABC Classic Recording Prize. Lauren also performed as a soloist for the Bach St John Passion with the Bel A Capella ensemble, the “Song of Inspiration†concert with the Sydney Beethoven Choir, and as a member of the Song Company for their “Utopia†tour. She is now the full-time Mezzo Soprano for the Song Company.Lauren has accepted placement into the Cardiff International Academy of Voice for 2009, under Dennis O'Neill, and will begin her studies there in October.With a focus on operatic studies, Lauren’s repertoire embraces Oratorio, Lieder, Musical Theatre, and Art Song. It is Lauren's goal to continue her studies and enrichment overseas, working towards becoming an artist on the world's operatic stage.
