Professor Spira

Greetings, this is Professor Spira (aka Professor Goecke) and I am a jazz trombonist, music educator, and Mucusless Diet Healing System practitioner living in the Cincinnati area. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in jazz trombone performance (cum laude) from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and I am the first black trombonist in the conservatory’s history to earn a Master of Music degree in jazz studies (summa cum laude). I am currently a professor of music and Afro-American Studies at Northern Kentucky University where I teach “Survey of African-American Music” and “Music of World Cultures.” I am also pursuing a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology at Ohio State University. I am a private music instructor, jazz clinician, and lecturer of Afro-American History and Arnold Ehret’s Mucusless Diet Healing System. As an educator and griot I strive to mentor and motivate my students to reach their full potential academically, musically, and personally.

My home is on the stage with my band, the Breathairean Ensemble. (check out our website at www.breathairmusic.com) The Breathairean Ensemble is a collection of musicians who are committed to achieving physiological liberation. We are an all-vegetarian and Ehretist ensemble whose purpose is to act as a healing support for each other. The musicians of the ensemble lead very health-conscious existences with a passion to express and inspire our healing lifestyle through our music. Because of this mission the band does not play in any bars or restaurants. It is a family and community oriented group dedicated to the elevation of the human spirit through vibrations of discipline, beauty, and cleanliness.

I have practiced Arnold Ehret’s Mucusless Diet Healing System since the fall of 2002 and could not have achieved my current level of peace, vitality, and freedom without it. Before the diet I was a 280 pound football player, but despite my smiles and perceived good health I was terribly sick and felt horrible. I took numerous prescription medications and suffered from chronic allergies, chronic migraine headaches, frequent bouts of bronchitis, arthritis, intestinal problems, and sleep-apnea for which I slept with a respirator at night. Now I weigh 160 pounds, cured all of my ailments, and completed three six month juice fasts. Arnold Ehret's Mucusless Diet Healing System is indeed my inspiration for making music and the Breathairean Ensemble has literally been a lifesaver. It has given me the supportive and creative musical and healing environment necessary to comfortably pursue my human potential physiologically and spiritually.
