About Me

On May 16, 1978 David William Vancil was born in Chicago, IL where he spent his childhood years. Upon turning the age of 18 he set himself on his way to the sands of the Hawaiian Islands where he spent the next 4 years. Having arrived in Hawaii at a young age, David was not sure what direction he would take to launch a career. The Beauty and Elegance of The Royal Hawaiian Hotel located on Waikiki Beach brought about an opportunity where he took his 1st step to become the bartender he is today. Putting college on the back burner David decided to turn up the heat and further pursue a career in Bartending later accepting a job at Scruples also located on Waikiki Beach. Scruples were a place that had hot, sexy, animalistic energy, body shots and Bartenders that worked like machines. The international waters called David’s name in 1999 after one of his regular customers offered him a partnership opportunity to open a club in Japan. David found himself at the age of 22 with no money and a plane ticket later on the soil of Japan. He hit the ground running and found himself working in Ryopungi at a cabaret called One Eye Jacks and Gas Panic, the later a club of mass human contact. People were packed into this bar sardines, with bartenders breathing fire and Girls Dancing on the top of the Bar! He then ventured off to and started work For Kagetsu Hotel in Isawa, Japan. On January 31 2001 the time had come for David and his partner to open his 1st club, Club 69 in Kofu, Japan. After hard work and sacrifices David reached a time in his life where at the age of 25 he questioned who he was and where his life was going. Reflecting on his time in Japan he realized that along with making good friends, having some great times, and dealing with stress and challenges this was a time where he finds his soul was put to the test. At this point in David’s life all arrows lead back to the USA. First stop… HOLLYWOOD where David began working at La Piazza in August of 2003! Surrounded by ambitious people in the Entertainment Industry and all the people “trying to get a break” David continues to seek future opportunities to make a difference in the life of others. He has found enjoyment in everyday bartending while making lemons into lemonade and you can too!
