The Ka'au Crater Boys' songs are a mixture of Hawaiian standards, country oldies, pop, reggae and their own originals. Troy and Ernie have been playing music and surfing together since their childhood days of growing up in the Palolo Valley Housing Project. The Boys are an inspiration to local kids hanging out with idle time and uncertain futures. Their success shows that an inexpensive guitar or 'ukulele can be the key to a positive and productive life. Troy is also a member of a successful traditional Hawaiian music group, Palolo.
