Growing up in a world where being different is looked upon as somewhat criminal, Lamec was never the conforming type—infact as an adolescent, Lamec preferred to listen to rock and roll, instead of the preferred musical selection of his neighborhood…hip hop. Lamec idolized musicians who were able to produce, “the sound of freedom”—music with no restrictions. According to Lamec, “Sounds can be seen as imagery, if you allow your ears to replace your eyes while listening.” Lamec has always employed this approach, during his earlier stages of production and writing. He would fuse sounds together as if it was an outfit—that white string would look great with that blue kick drum; accompanied by a gray snare….get the point? Lamec’s style received praise, but was also met with strong criticism; fortunately Lamec would not allow this to serve as a deterrent. As time progressed, he continued to develop his signature hip hop production and writing style. In early 2000, Lamec wrote, produced, and performed a successful hip hop album entitled, The Street News. After completing this project, Lamec understood that he was ready to venture into a new genre. Lamec began to produce R & B and dance, and also took on the task of music consultant for TV One’s popular cooking show, Turning Up the Heat with G. Garvin. Unfortunately, it was around that time, 2004, that Lamec's father became extremely ill and he expressed the need to develop rougher material that would help ease the pain from dealing with his father's situation. Lamec wanted to get the anger out! Soon after, he began to re-examine old colors, “sounds,” and introduce new “colors”, which resulted in his 2007 release, The Gate Way Drug. “Rough like Rock, but bang like Hip Hop,” most agreed about the intensity of the music. Although Lamec was pleased by the overwhelming response, his celebration was abruptly cut short due to the untimely death of his mother, his greatest inspiration. Through it all Lamec continues to develop progressive music by using the joys and pain of life as his platform for creativity. Lamec is now the founder of his on production company, Unuzual Muzic--the platform for an audio movement. As described by Lamec, “Unuzual Muzic defies uniformity, by making a conscious effort to create music without any constraints.” Although Lamec is currently working on numerous underground projects, Lamec is eager to bring his talents above the earth’s soil, while imprinting his signature sound on rock, hip-hop, dance and R&B. Unuzual Muzic will be the space ship, while Lamec will serve as the captain, challenging listeners to explore more then what the earth has to offer—lets’ Blast Off!
