Uh, what can I say? I'm a geek... I build computers for people (I'm kind of anti-capitalist there... I only charge for parts. It's a hobby, not a job) occasional gamer... I read sci-fi/fantasy novels, watch anime (only very specific ones, though...) Additionally: I'm an aspiring gearhead as well as a bit of a muscle car enthusiast. maybe someday I'll own a decent one, but for now I just have a '68 chevy van.
I dunno, I'm really a flaky bastard. not sure what my friends see in me. ;)
Mostly rock, I like to say anything from Fleetwood Mac to Slipknot, but that's not necessarily true. I like most Industrial I've heard. I like old school punk (Misfits, Sex Pistols, Ramones) and some Hardcore punk (Rancid, most NOFX) but if you're playin most other punk I've heard... well, just keep the volume low enough that I can converse with someone. I also listen to quite a bit of symphony lately, mostly either Mozart or more modern compositions like "Symphonic Pink Floyd" by the London Philharmonic Orchestra... as for things I dislike: country, hip-hop/new R&B (I kinda like most of the R&B from the 70s I've heard)/Gangsta Rap... though actually I'm kinda rediscovering Cypress Hill. Go figure. Most recent additions to my collection: Red Hot Chili Peppers: Mother's Milk and One Hot Minute.
Old Favorites: The Princess Bride, any Mel Brooks film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, the Star Wars Trilogy (4, 5, and 6. The new ones were FAR better as books)New(er) favorites: 5th Element, Mr. and Mrs Smith, Kung-Fu Hustle, Grandma's Boy, The Bourne TrilogyAnime favorites: Grave of the Fireflies, Akira, Nausicaa, Cowboy BebopI could make the list a lot longer, but.. I'm lazy.
TV is one of the biggest scourges of our society. Though I do watch Family Guy on DVD... and I own the complete Dilbert Collection, the Venture Brothers, and Harvey Birdman: Attourney at Law on DVD... and I download fansub anime recorded from Japanese TV... and I occasionally watch the daily show and dirty jobs... everybody's a hypocrite in one way or another, right?I guess I'll list my favorite anime here, then (in the order that they occur to me... which doesn't necessarily mean anything):
-Gunslinger Girl
-Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex (and 2nd Gig)
-Le Chevalier d'Eon
-Full Metal Panic (and fumoffu, and 2nd raid)
-Black Lagoon
-Cowboy Bebop
-Azumanga Daioh
-Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu
-Noir and El Cazador de la Bruja (... I'm trying to forget that Madlax ever happened. What the hell, Bee Train?!)
should I enclose the list? nah.
Most Recent Series' of interest:
Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" (R.I.P., Mr. Rigney)
Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth"
George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire"
Raymond E. Feist's "Darkwar"
Greg Keyes' "The Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone"
Elizabeth Haydon's "Symphony of the Ages"
Terry Brooks' "High Druid of Shannara" (he seem to have adequately redeemed himself from that 'voyage of the Jerle Shannara' crap).Oh, I read Star Wars as kind of a side... Finished 'Legacy of the Force: Inferno' recently. This little series is pretty good, so far. Better than the swarm war series, which I label as 'mildly entertaining'.
Kurt Cobain, and Yablo - master of the ocarina. But seriously... I'm just me. I really try not to idolize anyone. Although... good goin' with the shotgun, Kurt 'ol buddy. Major style points!
