The Brodhead Volunteer Fire Department is one of the oldest fire protection services in Rockcastle County. The department has a history that spans more than 80 years. Formed by the Lions Club in the mid 1920s, the department has rode through the evolution of the fire service. Comprised of all local citizens, most having no previous fire service experiance, we respond to an average of 75 to 80 calls per year. These calls range from structure fires, auto accidents, EMS assists, and CSEPP incidents to alarm drops and service calls. The BVFD has the reputation of being one of the most progressive departments in the county. We are proud to serve the citizens and hope to make a positive difference in the community.
