A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Alicia Lemke has been a performer for most of her life, concentrating now on jazz vocals and folk vocals/guitar. Although she began performing with local community theaters and singing as early as middle school, her real passion for music came from 10 years of classical and jazz saxophone (alto/baritone). She is self-taught on acoustic guitar, and took a semester off from college in the spring of 2008 to study jazz piano full time with piano legend Garry Dial (Manhattan School of Music). Alicia just graduated from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania with a Special Major in Music and Theater, and a minor in Biology. She will be attending Berklee College of Music in the fall of 2009 to earn a Professional Diploma in Performance and Songwriting.In addition to studying in NYC, in the past four years Alicia has lived in Swarthmore, PA, studied in Northeast Queensland, Australia (summer 2006), Florence, Italy (summer 2007), and Boston, MA (Berklee College of Music summer session 2008). She is passionate about music, traveling, the Great Outdoors, and looks forward to pursuing music while keeping alive her love for biology and for adventure.
