a brief biography
i am a 21 year old audio tech student, chicagoland native, and am finally back home after being trapped in shitty baltimore for a year. this is my junior year and im currently studying at columbia college chicago.
A PRELUDE
Any real independent musician knows that in today's world of "easy pre-programmed loops" and applications like Garageband and Acid, it is harder for an untrained ear to discern what an artist has truly made. It's the difference between years of dedication and that kid who's trying to acquire some quick noterity.
Music is powerful and therefore entails responsibility. Music can evoke the fires of emotion within us, sometimes even the most important decisions of our lives. Everyday, I find that the number of people who take this expression for granted is rising at exponential rate. Power is being abused and we all suffer the consequences. You may ask who is the preprietor of this ever growing evil? It's none other than the modern major label. These crushers of culture destroy listeners and independent artists alike, robbing us of our imaginations and restricting the expansion of new ideas. The corporate freight trains that back these labels put these little restrictions on us. Sometimes they're hard to notice. Maybe you were just watching MTV one day. MTV seems to be the dictator of pop culture these days and the modern major label's best friend. Seen in 140 countries and 330 million households, MTV's drones non-stop, 24 hour propaganda probably more effective than the Nazis'. Maybe you were just watching TRL while they were forcasting next weeks popularity. If you accepted what you saw here, you're accepting everything it stands for. It ingrains this faulty benchmark for what defines culture and what is concidered talented artistry. These restrictions precondition us; manipulate what we like, our morals, and ultimately the way we live our lives.
Once confused by flashy imagery and convincing lies I, too, added to the wall of bullshitty noise. I am regretful for any damage I've caused and view it as paying my dues. I am serious about what I do and they're only seem to be a handful of people in this world who are too. People like this do it for the music and the way it makes us feel. Maybe that's why were not famous. Our priorities are in developing art instead of whats most profitable. Maybe that's why most of us are never heard. I'll only offer you a taste once, and whether you injest the rest of the fruit is your decision. You won't find me blathering in your ear like an insurance salesman who says he has the policy of a lifetime. It's chauvinistic and often turns people off to hip-hop before they're ever able to explore it. Appreciate this as a rebirth of all things beautiful, forgotten, and old. Just another bullet in the barrage against modernized ignorance.
