Within the last year D'lux has risen from absolute obscurity to the forefront of the UK Hip Hop scene with heart thumping drums and sweet melodies being his growing trademark of his beats. With an already impressive clientile list such as Kyza Smirnoff (The Terra Firma General), Scribblah Dangogh (Terra Firma), Micall Parknsun (Sit Tight Records), M.E. (G.N.M. Media), Triggz Vega (???????), T.Bear (Manor Eterprises) and Stylah (Poisonous Poets).
"Music has always been there for me, 'cause my dad is guitar and bass player" D'lux remembers. "It was always based on whether i wanted to pick it up or not". D'lux started making beats in 1999 and then bought his first drum machine in late 2001 which was the MPC 2000. "The Day i bought that shit i called P (Micall Parknsun), he came round and schooled me through the basics for a couple of hours. After that i was hooked!" D'lux locked himself away with his new found toy and then started meeting other producers within the UK Hip Hop circle one of which was none other than Harry Love. " Harry, basically showed me how to program, arrange & record vocals. It was at this point i decided to take my shit to the next and build my own studio @ home". This was his main focus for the next two years as he decided take a back seat in order to take two steps further within the future by building a recording studio otherwise know to some as the 'Deluxe' Suite. " It was hard man... cause i so wanted to go out there and link up with as many artists as possible. But seeing Harry and hearing about Lewis (Parker) recording tracks at will in their own studios made me be patient and wait my turn. It was possibly one of the best moves i have ever made". During this time Akil (Scientist Of Sound) introduced D'lux to Fallcy in 2002 making the link for D'lux to become his DJ just before his debut LP 'Blackmarket Boy' came out. But shortly after D'lux decided to leave early 2003 "We were going in different directions man. "I was so into getting the studio up and running as well as making beats that i made that choice 'cause Fallacy was the first person ever to put money into my hands for doing this rap shit!!
2004. D'lux started recording tracks with Kyza and the two recorded one track in particular titled 'Sick' which was originally put forward to Kyza's 'then' label Kemet for his 2nd single release (that later became 'Devil in Dress/Real Rap' "12) Dlux reflects "I heard they did like it. But it was just that i wasn't a 'name' brand producer. These things either make you wanna quit or make you make more determind to reach your intended goal. I guess for me... it was just the latter." So after that the two started working on an 'project' together but D'lux changed his mind and then advised Kyza to record his solo LP instead. "Everyone wanted to hear a Kyza LP including myself. i think it was way overdue so we changed the game plan accordingly. And in doing that i eventually became the executive producer on 'The Experience'. I cannot thank Kyza enough for even trusting me to put his debut project in my hands 'cause who knows me? People will be looking at the credits for LP like WHAT-THE-FUCK? WHO-IS-THIS-GUY? I guess it was just meant to be. I hope that people don't read the credits looking at all the songs i produced on the LP like i was on some domination shit, the plan was for me to produce 5 tracks and get the other producers to chip in with beats so it didn't sound boring and all the same style, but there were some major technicalities envolved that where out of my control and as a result tracks got shelved."
Last but not least D'lux speaks on his future plans "We are currently beginning recording for the 2nd Kyza LP 'The Balance' as well as a BMA compliation LP and working with upcoming artist Sue Willz. "It's looking real good at the moment 'cause tings is finally popping off, hopefully people dig the 'The Experience' and word gets spread that i'm a bonafide producer looking to make some more hot shit!!" Who said that patience isn't good.
