Born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia, Sophia Bass began to show interest in composing music on the piano at age six. From Classical to Jazz to Latin compositions, her original pieces were varied and passionate. For several years in a row as a pre-teen, Sophia was a winner in the Alma Grayce Young Composer Competiton in Northern Virginia. After years of studying piano with various teachers, Sophia became interested in guitar and songwriting. In November of 2005, Sophia studied with musician and singer, Lisa Reagan, who led her to producer, Paul Buono in Nashville, Tennessee. Sophia's first independently produced CD, titled, Step Into My Dream, is available for purchase now on iTunes and CDbaby.com! Nine of Sophia's songs were recognized as outstanding in 2008 U.K. Songwriting Contest, and six songs were Semi-Finalists! Sophia’s songs were among the top 15% of over 6,200 songs! Sophia was also awarded the Young Artist Award in the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest by the Songwriters Association of Washington.Other notable music awards include: Three songs in the 2008 BILLBOARD Magazine World Song Contest – Top 500 List, a Silver award for "Some Little Girl" and a Finalist award for "Livin It Up" in the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest by the Songwriters Association of Washington, First Place for "Believe" in the SongDoor 2007 International Songwriting Contest, First Place for Rock and Second Place for Pop in the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest by the Songwriters Association of Washington, 2007 U.K. Songwriting Contest, 2007 Nashville International Songwriting Contest and the 2007 Great American Song Contest!
