About Me
What can I say? I love to compete. I've been challenging myself in so many ways since I was a kid.
I also lost my way for some years, and it took awhile to get my attitude, body, spirit, and daily routine back to where it suits me. It's crazy to think I weighed up to 255 lbs at one time. And now fighting at 170 lbs. It took so much discipline on my part. Constantly training, eating right, and keeping the positive spirit I posses now.
I currently train at Black Dragon Mixed Martial Arts. There I learn a supreme blend of tae kwon doe, kickboxing, point sparring, submission wrestling, grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Kami Shin Jiu Jitsu. The Bjj that I learn there is Sylvio Berhing Jiu Jitsu.
The opportunity to participate in mma came at a time I needed it most. It kinda just happened. I never planned to be fighting, and I didn't expect to be doing so well when I first stepped in the cage. Initially, I planned on training to get in shape and shed off some of the weight, guilt, pain, and any other negative energy that was thriving within myself. Then competition came into play and I dived in head first. Why the hell not?
I don't regret anything that has happened in my life, because it has led me to this awesome lifestyle that i'm enjoying right now as you read this. My family have never been so supportive in anything i've done, except now in mma. I've found a great and wonderful girlfriend, Jenell, who has helped motivate me. That would also include her daughter Ava. And the few friends that have been there through the thick and thin, the fun and the bullshit...thanks for not giving up on me. If anyone that knew me when I was going through a rough time in my life is reading this, and you have seen the positive results of my new lifestyle, then you know that if I can change for the better, so can you or anyone you know. Sometimes a person needs a little push, or budge, when trying to get their head out of their ass. Ha!
I use to rock the dance floors...lol...now i try to rock my opponents. New venues, new crowd, new promoters, new lifestyle.Make the most of Yourself, for that is all there is of YOU. "Emerson"
