Base Unit is a free project run by Leeds Library Service to give everyone the opportunity to express their creativity through sound, image, web and video. Base Unit Librarians are available to offer a series of FREE introductory workshops and provide guidance about how to develop your skills and ideas Base Units are a mobile resource based at Studio 12 at the Leeds Central Library.
Visual -
Final Cut Pro: edit movies and create DVDs. Some use of cameras and vidcams available by arrangement with Base Unit Librarians. Adobe Photoshop: edit photographs and images. Macromedia Flash: for simple animation.
Music and Audio -
Garage Band: create loop-based tracks. Propellerhead Reason: a virtual recording studio. Logic Pro: sample, manipulate and edit audio.
Web Design -
Adobe Dreamweaver: create you own interactive website.
If you are aged between 16 - 30 you may be able to move on to access Studio 12 and gain an Open College qualification.
