About Me

Close friends describe me as incredibly intense, passionate and fearless. The adjectives relentless and tenacious also apply, as well as, smart. Hopefully this description will deter all except the bravest of souls from responding. I enjoy cycling, ice-skating, rollerblading, sky diving, evocative movies, crawling through jungles and climbing over ruins in Latin America, curling up with a good book (along the way I've picked up a decent knowledge of classics, philosophy and political theory). I clean up well, am extremely outgoing (an extrovert) and equally comfortable in casual or formal settings. Despite my formal education, or perhaps because of it, I still believe that the writings of Lewis Carroll contain appropriate responses and answers to most of life's perplexing problems. My perfect date shows up with a picnic basket under one arm, a blanket under the other and tells me that dinner will be served al fresco -- park or beach, makes no difference. Capturing my attention will require good conversation, wine, finger food...order is important. Tip for the picnic challenged: Given 24 hours notice, many places in town know how to pack a wicked picnic basket. Additional tip: If you've lived a full and interesting life and have learned how to distill the essence of what you've learned along the way, preferably in the form of telling good stories --- a bag of cookies or chips will suffice. My ideal match is brave and honest, in dealings with others, but more importantly, with himself. You're a Howard Roark with a social conscience. Lest anyone think otherwise that is not an invitation for grouchy old Republicans to apply! A keen ability to appreciate the absurdities in life, to fully experience heartfelt laughter, joy, sorrow and tears, to refuse to settle for less than what you want, deserve or have earned, and a willingness to embrace the unknown are more important than physical attractiveness. Seeking smart, funny and brave man who says what he means and does what he says.

Free Thinker

Welcome to the top 5%. You are a true free thinker and a person who is well informed about the reality in which you live. Although you may have been easily manipulated earlier in life, you eventually gained lucidity and developed a healthy sense of skepticism that you now automatically apply to your observations and experiences. You are endlessly curious about human behavior and the nature of the universe, and you have one or more lifestyle habits that most people would consider odd or unusual. You are not only of very high intelligence, you are also extremely creative in one or more areas (music, art, software development, inventing, etc.)If you were in The Matrix you would have taken the red pill, completed the combat training, and started fighting (and beating) agents from day one.Your Architects: You have cast off reality distortions taught to you by your parents, schooling, corporate advertising and government propaganda. You create your own beliefs based on what serves you best, without much regard for what the rest of the crowd is doing. You are guided by your own internal code of ethics (which may or may not agree with politically-correct ethical codes) rather than any pre-set system of ethics (such as from any one religion).

Movies:

I'm a Tarantino fan, so Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, and Pulp Fiction definitely make my list of favorite films. Others near or at the top of my list are: Almost Famous- Sex Lies & Videotape- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Unbearable Lightness of Being - Magnolia - American Beauty - The Usual Suspects - Crash - Control Room - Proof - What the Bleep Do We Know? - Blood Diamond
Guillermo Del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth". It's a truly imaginative and breathtakingly beautiful fairy tale that not only draws heavily upon classical mythology --- but will also restore your faith in the power of innocence to overcome malevolence.

Television:

I don't watch much TV, but I like PBS - especially Frontline, NOVA and Nature. I also like Animal Planet, the History Channel, and sometimes re-runs of Law & Order.

Books:

‘The time has come’, the Walrus said, ‘To talk of many things: Of shoes…and ships…and sealing wax… Of cabbages…and kings… And why the sea is boiling hot… And whether pigs have wings.’
Through The Looking Glass
The Unicorn looked dreamily at Alice, and said “Talk, child.” Alice could not help her lips curling up into a smile as she began: “Do you know, I always thought Unicorns were fabulous monsters, too? I never saw one alive before!” “Well, now that we have seen each other,” said the Unicorn, “if you’ll believe in me, I’ll believe in you. Is that a bargain?”
Through the Looking Glass
‘You may charge me with murder — or want of sense — (We are all of us weak at times) But the slightest approach to a false pretence Was never among my crimes!'
