Within the tight New York City underground scene, only a few sought-after DJs can sucessfully obtain the most coveted night spots to grace the undying city crowd with their sets. Daniel Elmalem, popularly recognized as Dan E., undoubtedley is the source of envy among many New York City DJs, as he securely carves himself regular gigs at New York City hot spots such as Liquid lounge, Abaya, Rehab, Bauhaus, Opaline, Opus 22 and Crunch Fitness. Dan is also the regular DJ for the Steve Madden Store events as well as the Lounge Boutique in Soho and the 4YOU boutique in Roosevelt Field Mall.
Influenced by world renowed DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo, Junior Vasquez, Chus and Ceballos, Deep Dish, Saeed and Palash, Dj Vibe, Tom Stephan and several others. Dan's ability to create a unique integration of electronic music in multiple genres has earned him his reputation. Born in Queens, New York in 1980, this young DJ prodigy started his career in 1998 as he landed a gig at the Tunnel nightclub, home to his DJ idols Danny Tenaglia, Eddie Baez, Richie Santana. Then in 2001, Down Shift Radio- the main source for streaming feeds of live DJ sets that sucessfully pulled thousands of hits (viewers) to the website until the end of the show's run in 2002. As a result of his sucess at Downshiftradio, he landed a gig at NYC's legendary Exit nightclub.
Also in 2001, Dan E. met fellow co-worker and producer, Robert Espada who joined him to become his production partner. They were followed by Nick Showz, DJ/Producer as well as the prolific label promoter for Distant music and Cafe Con Leche. From this partnership, Red Lab productions was born, specializing in collaborating Tribal and progressive house music.
In 2004 Dan E. was signed by Mike Negron (famed after hours DJ/Producer and founder of X-Soundz and New York's ultimate after hours venue Odyssey) to become a resident DJ.
In 2005 Dan E. along with his close friend George Dafonte formed House City Productions. House City Productions is an up and coming record label specializing in House music. The two formed a website by late October.
In 2006 the sucess of www.housecitynyc.com earned Dan E along with fellow HouseCity Productions DJ's a spot at venues such as Vault @ Element and finally in 2007 landed a gig at the world famous Pacha. Stay tuned for more and be sure to check him out @ www.housecitynyc.com
