WIZ

Wiz started out on the scene in Tampa, Florida. As the break out artist with Mack One productions, his first compact disc, ”On the Grind,” was released as a street cd in the fall of 2006. “On the Grind,” landed him opening acts for Little Wayne, Trick daddy, and most recently The Game.Born, Widzar Beauvais of Port a Prince, Haiti, he came to the United States at the age of nine with his father, leaving his mother, brother, and sisters behind to follow. While growing up in Haiti and New York City, music was a part of his life. He listened to gospel, R&B, and hip hop artists. Artist such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Jill Scott, Mary J Blige, Tupac, and Biggie Smalls, feed his desire to write and perform.Wiz loved music. He says “if it can touch some part of my heart with meaning to it, I listened to it”.With his cousin J-Roc, Wiz started doing music at the age of 15. They would hang out on the street corners freestylin and beat boxin. Eventually they formed a team and planned on getting the music recorded. But J Roc’s life was cut short by a bullet and was not able to see the dream become reality. Next to his cousin J Roc, his biggest influences were Tupac and Biggie. What interested him in their music, were the lyrical expressions. “For me it is real. I lived in the streets, I saw family die in the streets.” Wiz says he uses music to express his emotions. After 11 years of living in New York, Wiz decided to leave the Big City. While constantly moving, he eventually relocated to Tampa, Fl; which is where he met his producer and friend Mack of Mack One Productions. It did not take long for Mack to see the talent that Wiz possessed. They teamed up with several friends and local artists such as Young Syph, Prince, Black Casper, The Client (Mobile, Al), and the Late Kemm “D-Rugs” Holmes. They all worked hard to create a cd that was strictly for the streets, “On The Grind.” Wiz says he wants the world to hear what he has to say. His goal is to make a better life for his family and he feels like music is one of the ways in which he can make that happen.
