Here is the E.C.B. story, best I can recall. I had a band called Mystery Train way back in the 90's. It was a good band with a good following. We didn't get a record deal, and the band fell apart. Dang.I did a bit of hired gun guitar work for some area bands. I knew a lot of good musicians in the Central Kentucky area, and once in awhile a group of us would book a gig and play our favorite covers, just for fun. This lineup rotated a bit, as most of the guys had real gigs in other groups. However, after a year or so, I noticed the same guys showing up, and it started feeling like a real band. I began to write songs for this group and we started playing more often. I began to feel mildly embarrassed about calling the group "The Eric Cummins Band" since the lineup was by now pretty consistent, but nobody to date has come up with a new handle. I also offered to sell the gear and turn over the booking to any of the other members, and change the name of the band to that lucky picker. To date there have been no takers.Like every other musician I know, I hate having to label what we do, but these days it gets called "Americana".If you have read this far, bless your heart. Go see some live music, before it all goes away.
